Project Overview
DualTech Conseil acted as Recognized Authority for Bureau Veritas on the FAT witnessing of an API 676 Progressive Cavity Pump unit, part of an international pipeline EPCM project. The pump — an Oil Drain Collector Transfer Pump — was fully assembled and tested at the vendor’s facility in France.
Equipment Details
- API 676 Progressive Cavity Pump — Model 120AV12
- Tag: 25-50-P-6703-01
- Rated: 65 m³/h at 4.65 bar differential, 250 rpm
- Drive: 415 V / 50 Hz electric motor with gearbox
Inspection & Test Activities — Final Painting (Pump & Motor)
Witnessed final painting inspection of the complete pump unit and electric motor. Final dry film thickness (DFT) measured and RAL 7035 light grey colour verified against the painting specification. Coating found compliant; one local touch-up required on the pump flange.
Result: Acceptable.
Mechanical Run Test (4 hours)
4-hour mechanical run test performed with water at rated differential pressure (4.65 bar), 252 rpm, 415 V / 50 Hz and fluid temperature 50 °C. Readings recorded at one-hour intervals:
- Flow rate: stable at 65.2 – 65.3 m³/h
- Absorbed power: 12.7 – 12.9 kW
- Stator / gearbox / bearing temperatures: within criteria
No leakage, no abnormal noise or increase in vibration observed. Acceptance criteria as per ITP met.
Result: Acceptable.
Performance Test
Performance test witnessed at three differential pressure points (0 / 4.65 / 6.81 bar), with 415 V / 50 Hz supply at 50 °C fluid temperature.
- Flow rate at rated differential: 65.3 m³/h vs 65 m³/h rated (+0.5%, within ITP tolerance of 0 / +20%)
- Absorbed power at rated: 12.4 kW
- Pump operation smooth and stable at all test points
Result: Acceptable.
Dimensional & Visual Control
- Nameplate & rotation arrow: S/N 070P140023495 — Tag 25-50-P-6703-01 — Model 120AV12-320119 — 65 m³/h — 4.65 bar — 250 rpm — CW from drive end — in accordance.
- Dimensional check: Performed against GA Drawing Rev. E — in accordance, except pump overall length (deviation recorded on marked-up GA; final verification pending tag-specific GA).
- Visual: No defects, except local coating damage on pump flange (touch-up scheduled).
Result: Acceptable.
Alignment & Coupling (Coupling 174-6)
- DBSE: 140.4 mm (required 140 ± 1.5 mm) — Acceptable
- Angular misalignment: 0.18° (≤ 1° allowed) — Acceptable

Outcome
All witnessed activities (ITP 9.1, 9.2, 10.0, 10.1, 10.5) were found acceptable. Two open documentary items remained at the time of report: the tag-specific GA drawing and a complete alignment report — both pending from the manufacturer. The final inspection report was signed by all attending parties (Recognized Authority, EPC contractor, and manufacturer).
